NEWTON “AMERICA’S SMARTEST DRAGON”™
MAGIC OF LEARNING SHOW–BUILDING TOMORROW TODAY
“EDUTAINMENT” AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS NATIONALLY
NEWTON THE DRAGON is a clumsy, zany bookworm, who magically inspires youth to a brighter future through imagination and education. Newton mystically conjures up and awakens both creativity & a love for facts and figures. He is the perfect left-brain right-brain one-two punch! 26 year veteran mascot performer Robert Boudwin has created & is solely portraying this character after 21 years of performing in front of 1.2 million Houston students spanning his career as Houston Rockets’ mascot, Clutch the Bear, a character he also created in 1995. This is a brand new show with all new surprises, re-writing the rules of mascoting, but with the same unique brand of EDUTAINMENT Robert has delivered for almost 3 decades! SHHHH…NEWTON TALKS & Robert also addresses the students as himself with an inspirational story of dreaming big and working hard.
Magic tricks are used as a form of entertainment in the show, but then the “curtain is pulled back & the dragon is unmasked” as the secrets of the tricks are revealed and linked to famous American Inventors & their inventions. The importance of imagination, creativity, curiosity, innovation & inventiveness is stressed & explained how all these things combine to make REAL MAGIC when something new is invented that didn’t exist before.
The main theme and lesson of the show is taught through the imagery (20’x14’ inflatable giant apple arch as the show’s back drop), props (signs for 6 volunteer students to hold, apple stress balls for all teachers to award one student each in their class at their discretion & a NEWTON bookmark & sticker for every student in the school), and the acronym APPLES used both because they are the famous teacher appreciation gift as well as integral in the fabled story of Newton’s realization of gravity. In the show APPLES STANDS FOR:
A–Always do your best!
P—Possibilities are endless when you dream BIG & work hard!
P—Practice reading at least 15 minutes every day!
L—Listen to your teachers and focus in class!
E—Engage in your education and ask questions!
S—Sleep at least 10 hours per night!
